Sheridan County runs hard from June through September. The WYO Rodeo is one of the largest PRCA rodeos in the West. The Bighorn Trail Run draws ultramarathoners from across the country. The Dead Swede fills every hotel in town. Plan around the calendar and book early. Properties go fast during rodeo week and race weekends, and the best ones go first.

Signature Events 2026

Dead Swede Gravel Race, June 6
The premier gravel race of the West. 20, 40, 60, and 100-mile courses from Sheridan into the Bighorns. Packet pickup June 5 at Kendrick Park (3–9 PM). After-party at Blacktooth Brewing on Main Street.
Bighorn Trail Run, June 19–20
Ranked top 10 hardest ultramarathon in America. 100, 52, 32, and 18-mile courses through Bighorn National Forest. UTMB qualifier. 20,500 ft of ascent. Finish celebration at Scott Park in Dayton, WY.
Sheridan WYO Rodeo, July 8–11
The 96th annual PRCA rodeo. Four nights of championship rodeo and Indian Relay Races. Sheridan's biggest event of the year.
Boot Kick-Off, July 7
The official start of WYO Rodeo Week. Free community celebration at Whitney Commons Park, Sheridan.
WYO Rodeo Main Street Parade, July 10
A free parade down Main Street, Sheridan. One of the most attended events of rodeo week.
First People's Pow Wow, July 10
Free cultural celebration at the Sheridan Inn during WYO Rodeo Week.
Sneakers & Spurs 5K, July 10
A fun run on Main Street, Sheridan, held during WYO Rodeo Week.
Tailgate Party & Polo, July 12
A beloved summer tradition at Big Horn Equestrian Center. Tailgating, polo, and the Bighorn foothills as a backdrop.
Longmire Days, July 16–19
Craig Johnson's Longmire novels celebrated in Buffalo, WY. Author signings, cast appearances, parade on July 18, and a 5K. 35 minutes from Sheridan.
