Road Trips from Sheridan
Sheridan sits at the center of some of the most dramatic road trip country in America. Each of these works as a day trip, or extend it with a stay along the way.
- Sheridan to Yellowstone (200 miles, full day): Cross the Bighorns via US-14, descend through Shell Canyon, and enter Yellowstone from the east. One of America's great drives.
- Devils Tower (130 miles, half day): East on I-90. America's first national monument, sacred to Northern Plains tribes, surrounded by ponderosa pine and prairie dog towns.
- Beartooth Pass (180 miles, full day): Via Red Lodge, MT. Switchbacks climb to 10,947 ft with views of glacial lakes and alpine tundra.
- Bighorn Scenic Byway (60 miles, half day): US-14 through the Bighorns. Medicine Wheel, Shell Falls, Dayton switchbacks. Starts 20 minutes from Sheridan.
